The project was renovated from a 30-year-old house, located in a residential area in the center of Dong Hoi city (Quang Binh province). The aim was to regenerate the building as a restaurant. Our challenge in designing this project was to ensure that the new function of the building does not affect the overall urban landscape of the area. The perforated brick facade was proposed to create the townhouse look in the overall landscape. The entrance was highlighted by a steel-plate door to make it stand out from surrounding buildings.

The facade structure is featured by a perforated lattice of 1,818 bricks. This unique facade allows light in during the day and to glow out in the night, transforming the solid 7.79 x 8.2m facade into a curtain that covers the glass panel of the building.
While the exterior design emphasizes the suitability with the existing urban landscape, the interior one focuses on compliance with the requirements of food safety, and chain of use. The open kitchen is therefore divided into optimal structures for different uses.
